Net Zero Homes / Solar Homes The energy used in our Net Zero Homes / Solar Homes is produced by on-site renewable energy sources such as Solar Panels. Net Zero Homes are still connected to the electric grid, but the energy generated by the on-site energy sources is put into the grid through a process called Net-Metering. Your electric bill will reflect the amount of kilowatts used minus the amount generated. Energy Efficient Homes Our Northwest Energy Star Certified homes contain the following energy efficient elements: micro inverter / solar ready systems, O.V.E. advanced framing, tightly sealed building envelops, high performance windows and doors, highly effective insulation, high performance HVAC systems, indoor HRV air ventilation, Energy Star appliances, fixtures, and CFL lighting. Built Green Homes / Eco Homes Our Certified Built Green Homes / Eco Homes incorporate all the Energy Star features plus the following components: recycled building materials, wood alternatives, sustainably harvested lumber, formaldehyde-free finishes, low-allergen products with minimum off-gassing, minimal site disruption, low maintenance landscaping; jobsite recycling. The Passive House Our passive designs include window placement and glazing type, thermal insulation, thermal mass, and shading. The windows, walls, and floors collect, store, and distribute solar energy in the form of heat in the winter and reject solar heat in the summer. Unlike conventional homes, The Passive House does not use mechanical or electrical devices to heat or cool.
